Any glory hunter can attend a promotion decider or cup final. The true test of loyalty is whether you were there when things went tits up. So I've compiled ten of our recent(ish) away games which have become iconic for the wrong reasons. Can anyone get close to 10/10?

Shrewsbury 0-2 1979 yes

Halifax 0-1 1980 yes
Brighton 1-4 1982 no
Derby 0-6 1989 yes
United 0-5 1994 no but watched it in a pub full of them

Lincoln 1-4 97 no
Darlington 1-1 1998 no
York 2-2 - 1998 no

I did the Halifax then Brighton ones, had Helen sat behind me that day with the big bloody bell, but then struggled to get to many aways after that.

Wasn't everyone at York?

My son was too young for most of these but his York away moment was Blackburn under Pearce? when Barton threw his shirt in the crowd and somebody threw it back, " you're not fit to wear the shirt" was an eyeopener to him at the time.

Think Huddersfield at home on a cold Friday night should have been on it personally, think we lost 0-1 in 1999/2000, but was steaming so most of it ended a blur, like the rest of the season lol.

Re: Proper Loyalty Test - were you at these?

Not at any of them, I was supporting Arsenal at the time.

Can any of you describe the "Iconic" York away moment?. This is for younger fans .

It appears that a record crowd of City support attended that game. Anything above 100,000 + . All police leave in Yorkshire was cancelled.
What was the Date? -
Was it a Second Division match. ?.
What was the score?
- Who scored?
Was it at Bootham Crescent ?.

All our younger fans should put this match in their scrapbooks.

Is the "York awaya MYTH ?."

Went to all of them, some very pain full memories. I remember the Darlo game because the dugouts were in front of us and Joe Royle was getting some serious abuse.
