Any glory hunter can attend a promotion decider or cup final. The true test of loyalty is whether you were there when things went tits up. So I've compiled ten of our recent(ish) away games which have become iconic for the wrong reasons. Can anyone get close to 10/10?

Shrewsbury 0-2 1979 yes
Halifax 0-1 1980 yes
Brighton 1-4 1982 yes
Derby 0-6 1989 yes
United 0-5 1994 yes
Liverpool 0-6 1995 yes (both that week 10-0)
Lincoln 1-4 97 yes
Darlington 1-1 1998 yes
York 2-2 - 1998 yes although the one I went to we lost 2-1
Boro 1-8 - 2008 no

This hardcore!

Fighting with the Red Army in Stretford one day. Fucking loved those standing days in the scoreboard end.

Next day at Wembley taking on the rent boys. Difficult to know who were more knackered, the players or us.

All except the 94 swamp derby as was in the USA and Brighton 1982. You have to do the hard yards with City to really enjoy the great times in recent years. The most angry I have ever seen City fans was the Blackburn quarter final under Pearce, worse than Darlington.

I've been to many on the various lists.

However much I love MCFC, I have had a life to live as well. So I'll never get into the 'Proper Blue' chart. like.

I have more than four decades of great memories. I am also a huge Mancunian snob.

However, I am happy for all Blues, old or new, Manc or, I dunno, North Korean?

I would say that what got us to where we are now is those of us, the 30k [about 22k seasos?] that put up with that crap in Div 3 and were then rewarded with the most mental of cup finals. Without us, the Manchester Thirty Thousand as Noel Gallagher once described us, there'd be no trophies,. CL or, of course, Sheikh.

Never mind the 'empty seats' threads, that 30k stat will always stand the test of time and one which I am sure did not go unnoticed in Abu Dhabi in the days before 01/09/08.

Was at most of them , which according to this thread makes me a gloryhunter with a big penis. The fact you would have to attend the majority of games during the season to get the neccessary programme vouchers (remember them) or loyalty points , to get a ticket for some of these matches , is lost on some posters.

Yup. For '99, you had to queue up all night at Maine Road and still turn up at the counter with the vouchers.

Or queue up for 6 hours only for the buggers to sell tickets from Piccadilly box office (and hardly anyone had mobiles then!) - still managed to get a ticket through a friend of my dads mates wifes grandad!
