John Humphries interviewed a number of City fans at the 1969 FA Cup homecoming and, as part of the "Boys in Blue" film show research, some footage from 1969 has been rediscovered. This material has never been shown before but will now form part of our updated show.

If you were interviewed by John, and his questions tended to be "what did you think of the goal?", "How do you think they'll do in Europe", you may appear in our show. He tended to interview young male and female fans. One was carrying a baby, others looked to be 15 to 25. There were some older fans, but if you were asked by John then you might be in for a pleasant surprise. This footage is not particularly long but it shows fans chanting various songs of the era, including of course You'll Never Walk Along (which also features on the 1976 homecoming film, also to be shown). There were chants for Tony Coleman (Ooh, ooh Tony, Tony Coleman, Ooh! - fists in the air!), Allison, Tommy Booth and there's also film of Allison leading the chant of "EE AYE ADDIO We won the Cup".

The film evening is a one off, not to be repeated, and is on 9th June: http://thedancehouse.co.uk/events/2016/46-the-boys-in-blue

Other material to be shown that wasn't included last time includes film of Hyde Road, City's first ground; film of Maine Road's first game; and we're currently working on pulling together some never before shown/broadcast colour film of City in 68-70, including colour scenes with the ECWC. Can't say too much on this yet, but there's so much in the show that I'm sure every fan will find something of interest.

Thanks

Yes, and this never-before-seen footage shows them leaving Wilmslow. It was the longest homecoming route City or Utd for that matter, ever did. There were no interviews at Wilmslow but get yourself down to the film show. You never know you may see yourself at Wilmslow. Last time we did this fans spotted themselves at the 76 homecoming at Maine Rd, so any thing's possible.

Not interviewed but me and a mate cycled to Wilmslow Station sat on a wall opposite the entrance and watched as they got off the train then onto the bus. It was great a nice clear view. Couldn't afford the one and six each way ticket on the 92 to go into Manchester

Me and my Dad went on a coach with the cast and crew of The Dustbin Men, we set off from the wagon and horses in handforth after loading about 20 crates of Brown ale on the back seats, the bloke that played Winston the city fan was wasted by the time we got there, wonder if anyone can find that days filming, best day ever.....
