Extra Time
Extra Time
All matches that end as a draw in the first five rounds (fifth round being the Quarter Finals in December) will go straight to penalties without the extra time. Both Semi-Finals (second legs) and the Final will however involve extra time if the match cannot be decided within the 90 minutes.
Carabao Cup Substitutions
Carabao Cup Substitutions
There was a time, following the pandemic-induced break, where teams were allowed to make five substitutions, but this was revoked at the start of this season and all went back to three subs. However a Pep/City led campaign has forced that change again so while last round had three subs, this round on, teams will be able to go back to five subs. Here are the cup rules around subs:
- Clubs will be able to make five substitutes from nine nominated.
- Clubs will have three opportunities during open play to make substitutions (not including half-time).
- Multiple substitutions can be made during one opportunity.
- For the Semi Final second leg and the Final, an additional opportunity will be afforded during open play in extra time (not including 90 mins and half time in extra-time).
- Unspent substitutions can be a carried over in extra time.
- Provision of concussion substitutes sits outside this process and can be made at any time.
