Competition Rules

Extra Time

All matches that end as a draw in the first five rounds (fifth round being the Quarter Finals in December) will go straight to penalties without the extra time. Both Semi-Finals (second legs) and the Final will however involve extra time if the match cannot be decided within the 90 minutes.

Carabao Cup Substitutions

There was a time, following the pandemic-induced break, where teams were allowed to make five substitutions, but this was revoked at the start of this season and all went back to three subs. However a Pep/City led campaign has forced that change again so while last round had three subs, this round on, teams will be able to go back to five subs. Here are the cup rules around subs:
  • Clubs will be able to make five substitutes from nine nominated.
  • Clubs will have three opportunities during open play to make substitutions (not including half-time).
  • Multiple substitutions can be made during one opportunity.
  • For the Semi Final second leg and the Final, an additional opportunity will be afforded during open play in extra time (not including 90 mins and half time in extra-time).
  • Unspent substitutions can be a carried over in extra time.
  • Provision of concussion substitutes sits outside this process and can be made at any time.

Antarctica. What time would you like it to be?

That isn't strong. Zinchenko hasn't played yet so it's doubtful he'll get a start. Ake and Stones haven't played together this season either so I can't see that. Sterling is injured so no guarantee he'll be fit to play and I seriously doubt Pep will give Palmer a full debut against a top 6 premier league team.
Depends whether pep is as bothered about records in this cup as some fans are. I think he will play a weakened side but our weakened sides are better than most. West Ham will play a weakened side too.

I would say Zinchenko, Stones and Ake are nailed on for this game. Fernandinho, Mahrez, Steffan, De Bruyne and Sterling if fit. Maybe Gundogan and 2 academy lads. Palmer and the right back.

Cancelo deserves a rest for me.
