I think he’s getting Ortega a PL medal and maybe paving the way for Ederson to play the FA cup final.

Quite happy for the first scenario to be the reason, but sincerely hope the second does not come to pass.

Ortega deserves to start the final. He has been great through the cup run and I have every confidence he would be great against the Rags.

I don’t really buy what Pep said about Ederson. A keeper doesn’t need resting in a title run in. They just don’t. Doesn’t make sense to me. But I can’t really think of anything major he’s done to deserve dropping that he didn’t also do earlier in the season. Weird.

Never heard what Pep said but could it be a mental rest rather than physical?

I agree in principle - and I’d be shocked if he doesn’t play- but I also want Pep to do every thing he possibly can to win the fa cup final and if that means playing our best keeper than I’m not going to complain.

Just got on here now, so I’m sure it’s not an original thought, but could Ederson be rested tonight to avoid him picking up another booking and risk a suspension for one of the ‘more challenging’ away matches later on?
Not sure how many yellows he’s had, but it feels a bit like refs are on him straight away with apparent time wasting

Good theory, but no as he could actually get booked in every league game until the end of the season and not get a suspension.

I think Ortega has shown that, on balance (shot stopping and distribution skills added together), there’s not much in it between the two on their day, so I would hope Pep would consider Ortega the best keeper to finish our cup campaign with a huge high.
