We've got enough....

Well I was replying to that Washington poster who thought we might be resting on our laurels and I do agree with him. Maybe my post had too much hyperbole...about Spurs perhaps... but I stand by my assertion that we have not improved much and could continue to struggle to break down well organised defences.

There was evidence of this in the latter part of last season and I'm not just referring to the L'pool games. I remember clearly thinking this in our games against Southampton, Huddersfield, Burnley and Palace.

Yes, I know we scored a huge number of goals and got a record points tally. Would we have sored so many goals and got so many points without our midfield? And another telling statistic is that we only won the second half of the season by two points - according to one of our posters we only got 2 or 3 points more than Liverpool did in the second half and that was mainly because they dropped points in the last month to lowly sides due to injuries and CL commitments.

Also, would we have finished so far ahead of United if Peg had allowed his players to perform in the same way as they did in the second half of the match at our place? Thank God he's still there.

We've also got several key ageing 30+ plus players who look burnt out: Fernandinho, D. Silva, Otamendi, Kompany, Aguero. Were you impressed with their world cup exploits?
I wasn't at all.

Next season will not be anything like the last one and many posters on here who think it will be a stroll in the park are in for a shock, but you can bet now they will be back on here to criticise Pep for not strengthening more

How deep do you intend making this hole? Gen question because I am really struggling to understand what you have been witnessing that no one else seems to have

Just as a general point, we won't have Pep forever. I find it odd we missed out on one deal by a seemingly small margin, had our bluff called about plan b's and c's, but ultimately won't give the best coach in the world the very best chance to win the lot? I know we don't do short term anymore but surely in this case you'd make an exception?

I genuinely believe the club did the right thing and not give in to changing demands. We already have a squad that is capable of doing wonderful things, and had we caved in and paid the additional money, the precedent would have been set and we still may not have won the lot.

I dont really get the whole trying to change our image so we dont overpay thing . no matter how hard we try we will always be looked at as a money club by other clubs. instead of trying to prove them wrong we should just embrace it like psg did. signing neymar and mbappe for a combined 370m is a money club who dont give a fuck what others think, they have money and are going to spend it to land these players.

Gen question blue - how much do we have to spend?

no set amount but in a competitive market like the one we are in its better to just be efficient and spend the money needed for players especially when we can afford it rather than miss out on targets to change an image that will never change.
