We've got enough....

If Fernandinho gets injured for a while we will have a problem. No matter whatever many on here say.
I hope he doesn't get injured. But if he does I'll bet we'll be more than fine. And I'll be willing to bet anyone on it. But we are better if he doesn't.

I think we are a player or two short to stand a realistic chance of winning the CL. But then again, Liverpool made it to the final last year, so who knows.

The form and fitness of the likes of D Silva, Kompany, Fernandinho and Aguero may prove to be the decisive factor in defending the title.

A likely gruelling congested fixture list coupled with Fern being out for any significant length of time, amounts to problems ahead despite how wonderful are team is. It's one thing dominating possession of the ball, but there are times in this league when having the ability to tackle, cover, intercept etc counts massively.

Could KDB be used in a pivot role? Sterling could drop into midfield alongside Silva/Gundogan with Mahrez, Aguero and Jesus/Sane up front.

I'd like to add attitude/winning mentality to what you called form & fitness.
Liverpool got to the final mainly by attitude (and Salah).
We were also short of a fair ref or two and a non corrupt Liverpool police working on legal ground.

We've seen what happens to a title defender at the WC, when they are arrogant, half-arsed and afraid of losing.
Low wasn't in control of those dynamics.

Pep will be totally aware instead and insist on the right mentality.
Also winning attitudes of the likes of Vinny and KDB will help to not walk into that trap.

Maybe it sounds a bit strange, but I would say going into the season with what we have and lift the potential we have is a way to ground the players and remind them that matches will not be decided by names or transfer sums or former success but rather by the will to win and hard work.

No doubt Pep will get it right. Hope the players still listen to him like they should.

With any luck it will be just like last season with Fernandinho playing the majority of games and Gundogan stepping in on the odd occasion and doing a good job. I think we'll be ok this season but we'll definitely need to address the position next summer.

I think Pep has a plan how to manage without depending 100% on Fernandinho. Remember how he moved Kimmich from Bayern into the middle? Zinchenko or Stones would be my guess, but as Pep is it will probably be somebody we do not think about.
In general the US tour showed me that we have a great crop of youngsters in the club. I so, so hope we will see one or more become part of the team this season.
