If he hadn’t assumed that Remain would win and had a credible plan ahead of the vote to deliver Brexit in case it was needed. He should have run a better campaign and had a better strategy to counter the lies of the Leave campaign and their insidious Social Media campaign. He played into Leave’s hands with doom and gloom predictions that were dismissed as Project Fear. The main thing was that he should never have gone along with a referendum in the first place. It was too big a gamble just to get back into power.

Totally agree with all this. I was astounded that the government hadn't done any prep work in advance of a possible vote to Leave, and Cameron fucking off was the most cowardly cop out I've ever seen from any PM in my lifetime. The country was effectively rudderless in the days and weeks following the vote and it was the likes of Carney who were actually holding it together.

Before that, I didn't actually mind him too much

Like most wealthy politicians he was happy to benefit from tax dodging, but in his case he was happy to implement the bedroom tax on those less fortunate.

He will forever be remembered for the colossal fuck up that is Brexit in much the same way that Blair is only remembered for Iraq, in spite of the fact that they were PM for 6 and 10 years respectively and did lots of other things.

I think he's fairly typical of most people from privileged backgrounds in that he won't have the first clue about how it feels to ever struggle to keep his head above water when it comes to paying the bills,or keeping a roof over his head. That doesn't necessarily make him a bad person, just disconnected from the majority of society.
