The story of a guy down and out in a prison in New Orleans and meets up with a broken down old alcoholic who used to be a soft shoe dancer. He learns of his love for his dog and of his life but in that horrible jail cell the singer also learns about Mr Bojangles philosophy that he can laugh and dance in the face of sorrow and trouble. There and then in that old dank cell he jumps up and lands lightly on his feet and right there explains everything. So let us too jump up and land light whilst Sammy recants his magic for your kind perusal and fair to say perfection personified. There will never be another Sammy Davis Jr!
