What book are you reading now / or recommend?

Any idea why posts since 26 June have gone AWOL from this thread? Can we have them back please?

Edit. For some reason only missing when I view the thread using Tapatalk.

I like a true crime book. Just finishing “The Stranger Beside Me” - the Ted Bundy story.

Best true crime book I’ve read was “Helter Skelter” about Charles Manson

A Very English Scandal by John Preston.

It's an account of the Jeremy Thorpe scandal, from the moment he originally met Norman Scott right up to the court case in the late 70's.
I really enjoy books about political figures and this didn't disappoint. The writing flows wonderfully and it's also very funny.
It also reminds you that the country was a very different place in the early to mid 60's.
Probably the best book I've read in ages.

Just read a great book on holiday in the True Crime category

“El Infierno” by Pieter Tritton. He spent 10 years in an Ecuadorian jail for drug trafficking.

I read Rinkagate: The Rise and Fall of Jeremy Thorpe, it was ok but will try yours.

Have you tried “An English Affair: Sex, Class and Power in the Age of Profumo” - good read if you like your political scandals

Yeah, I've read that. It's very good, isn't it.
I like any book about politics to be honest; have you read "What happened to Britain in the Seventies" (,or something like that). Can't remember the author but he's done a couple along similar lines.
If you haven't then I highly recommend.
And the new Jeremy Thorpe one is a fantastic read. It's the book the recent TV thing was based on (which I missed)
