Just finished a little light reading 'The Holocaust: A new History' by Laurence Rees. It develops the belief now generally accepted by historians of the subject that it wasn't a long-term premeditated strategy to carry out mass murder of the Jews (and others including Roma/Sinti) but came about largely via individual initiatives that were driven by events.
Late reply. Good read. If you haven’t read them and are interested, Richard J. Evans’ Third Reich Trilogy is an incredible piece of scholarship. Not light reading but fascinating.
