I've given up on Stephen King. The best horror novel I have read in the last decade is The Passage by Justin Cronin.

Half way through Swansong by Robert R. McCammon. If you like The Stand and The Passage, you'll probably love it.

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't going to read the 2nd book because I thought the original ended perfectly.

Hoping to go to Waterstones tomorrow so I'll look out for Swansong.

Brilliant. Read the whole trilogy in 2.5 weeks.
Read life of Pi too, also excellent.

I love the Wilt books, very crude but very funny, as are all Tom Sharpe books. His books set in South Africa during apartheid are my favourites 'Riotous Assembly' is piss funny.
