What Constitutes a Successful Upcoming Season?

It has never been and never will be all about winning for me.....

I just expect my blue shirted heroes to give it their all and try to entertain me along the way...

Picking up a pot or two along the way is a bonus - one it thought I’d never see to be honest.

So for me playing the same way we have for the last 18 months will do just fine - the rest will just take care of itself

League + FA cup.
Champion's league semi - get us ready for the final in Istanbul the year after.

Maintaining the exhilarating brand of football we played last season and retaining our Premiership crown. That in itself would be a great achievement. To add the FA Cup would be truly momentous, the greatest City achievement of my (long) lifetime. I know that our owners and some fans are desperate for CL success but, sorry, I couldn’t give a fuck about the whole overblown and corrupt monstrosity. And I say to all the anti - City media brigade out there who will no doubt bang on about true greatness being defined only by winning the CL trophy - who gives a shit what you think!

Winning the league or the champs lg is a successful season.

But so long as we play the way we can & compete, so that we know we are still on the right track, I'm still happy enough even if we win fuck all.

I just don't want to see Pep do a Mangrini, where he's completely run out of ideas & going through the motions. Which he won't, he'll resign if that happens. We can't win every year but we can be ready to try & win the year after, when we do miss out. That's all I ask.

Will be interesting what Pep has in his bag to play vs deep sitting sides being organized still better and better.

After Germany left WC early and in a piss poor way, many in Germany ask if possession football is dead nowadays.
I don't think so as long as you develop new tasks to put pressure on the defending teams.

I've never read any comments by Pep about WC matches and systems, especially about the likes of Germany and Spain.
What would Pep have changed?

Coming back to our the new season, I hope Pep is leading the development of football by some new ideas instead of being chased by defensive sides calling our way to play.

Small tactical changes are deciding matches nowadays, as defensive teams close down shop, wait for a set piece and defend for their lives.

Our creative department will need a lot of pace and perfect one touch play to break up tight 10 men defences.

What’s the most consecutive PL titles a club has won?

We need to match or better that.

They won it three times in a row, twice:
99/00/01 & 07/08/09
It will be extremely difficult but I genuinely wouldn't put it past Pep and this squad he's building to win four in a row given the way he dominated in Spain and especially in Germany.

One down, three to go... with three years left on his contract.

God that would piss off the rags.

Think that is the main reason we went for mahrez as his extra skill will be useful in opening up opposition defences sitting deep.

Sorry Preacher but I don't agree with your sermon. Yes winning the league must always be number one but CL success runs it very close certainly way above winning the FA Cup.
You are entitled to your views but you lack credibility with your analysis in pure football terms and the claim that the competition is an "overblown and corrupt monstrosity" is a bit well overblown!!

Yes, I guess the Champions League will always divide opinion. Not sure I was giving an ‘analysis’ there, merely a personal point of view, though one stated, admittedly, in the bluntest of terms.

Champions league is what i´ve been long time waiting for us to win and i think the time has come ,when we really have the team to do it, i really hope we get to the finals finally.Don´t care about carabao cup and Fa Cup ,but defending our league title would be nice again :) I really do hope that we can get a bit better than we did last year ,when we were quite exceptional in the premier league, not so much in CL, but you need a bit of luck to be successful there.
