What do we need?

I really like the look of him, would link up well with Silva. I saw him play against South Korea, he played alongside Alonso and had a good game.

Yeah, he is very talented... unfortunately Barcelona are interested in him, well only unfortunate if we become suddenly interested. But being a Basque boy, I wonder if Bilbao could sign him if they sell Herrera from their midfield.

If they sold Herrera, knowing Bilbao, they would just invest it into their youth. Im sure since Bilbao rejected him already, there really is no chance of him going back. He would most likely look for a bigger club, somewhere like Sevilla or At. Madrid.

Xabi Alonso would be little too expensive for Bilbao and is there a bit of fierce rivaly between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao? If he was available though I would like to see him at City.

Talking about Benat from Betis here. :D

I blame the heat:) Yep Benat could be a potential replacement for Athletic though.

Instead of buying we could always promote razak although that would be a big risk.

I think Razak is more of a Yaya type midfielder. I would love to see him get into the first team more often too.

Started off promising but didn't do himself any favours towards the end of his loan spell. Needs more time away from the club.

I agree with this BUT i believe he isn't first team quality yet , he has the potential to be Yaya's successor in a few years but i believe he needs that "Spanish football" experience that Yaya got from his time at Barcelona . Razak should be loaned to one of the small Spanish teams that would guarantee him first team football or he could join weiss at Espanyol.

Nuri sahin is the best out for that role

Who has been made available at Real Madrid? Sahin is an excellent player but I think Real will want to keep him

it seems he may be too similar to alonso, would be worth an asking about him.

The thing with Kevin prince boateng is that he's an attacking midfielder isn't he? From what I've seen I don't think he could play the barry role as I don't think he'd be disciplined enough positionally. I'd love an alonso type who can create from deep, a young pizarro would be great. Banega? Sahin? Perhaps

Could be worth a go, lets see who we will end up with.

A Sahin - Yaya midfield would be something truly special.

Sahin is brilliant but I feel Madrid might only loan him out. Alonso will be 31 by the end of the year and it'll be hard to find a better replacement than Sahin.

If we want a cheap midfielder with very good passing range from deep, Benat from Betis has been super impressive in his first two games for Spain (vs. Serbia, vs. South Korea). And Betis want Santa Cruz permanently...

Some footage of him for Betis:

Yes Benat has those silky Spanish skills he is definitely worth considering!

A deep lying play-maker. Martinez isn't one for me, he doesn't have the passing ability to spread play quickly. An expensive option would be someone like De Rossi or M'vila. Two very inexpensive options would be Jordy Clasie and Michael Bradley. Both very tenacious and good tacklers and both very good passers. I would prefer Clasie, as he is the younger one of the two, but Michael Bradley is the more experienced and physically imposing player.

Bradley got shorted a little at Villa, not really getting his chance. He went to Chievo and has transformed into one of the best midfielders in Serie A, taking over the "regista" duties with his exquisite passing and excellent work-rate and tackling.

Clasie on the other hand has become the engine for Feyenoord's push for the title in Holland this year. He reminds me a lot of Cabaye from Newcastle. He's small but he makes up for that with skill and pure determination.

Either of these players I would take, Bradley is probably the more polished player who could dominate our midfield right away. Clasie would need work because playing in Holland is a huge drop in class when compared to playing in Italy or England but he does have the higher ceiling when it comes to potential.

And then a youngster raid:
Mateo Kovacic
Jules Ntcham
Charly Musonda
Lucas Ocampos (instalment not that 14m straight up)
Adam Maher
Nicola Leili
Would offer return loan deals to get the fees down as we aren't going to need them next year.

Are all of these players hot on Football Manager, not a dig, just generally wanted to know as I don't play the game, but, I know about young footballers and I'm wondering how you know them.

Haven't played FM either, only FIFA but many of these aren't in it. They're all players that have been previously linked on this board (maybe not Maher but I've read somewhere we tried to sign him 2 years ago and might try again)

Papers have definitely linked us about half way through the season to Nicola Leili ("next Buffon") while Tolmie did mention in one of his threads we were looking at a future star and posted a picture of Princess Leila, but who knows.
