What do you miss?

I miss having the older generation and being able to go to see them in their houses now and again. You see, I am now the older generation.

I also miss having energy and enthusiasm. It takes me all my powers of concentration to be arsed to work a keyboard.

I miss not thinking that every programme on TV is shit and that half the fiction books are shit too. I miss factual books that are not more pictures than text.

I miss the world where people realised they were not experts on everything from international trade to medical science but focused on stuff they did know.

What about the mineral delivery service, and collecting the empty bottles?

Or the rag and bone man?
Made me laugh just thinking about that, kids round our way sucking sticks ( twigs ) or liquorice after emptying their mums kitchen, dads garage and the shed for anything they considered that looked metalic......and then trying to bluff their way out of it when said items where actually needed.

Wasn’t it blissful. Everything is just too much to keep up with. I’m sure there were as many know it all knobs back in the day, but you just didn’t have to watch them or read their crap every minute of the day. I’ve turned 50 now and for the first time I realise I’m old. I used to be really good at football and cricket. I miss that so much and used to get all my confidence and get rid of all my anger/anxiety from playing. Now I can’t even play at a lower level (2 new knees) It has a massive impact on mental health. I can understand why so many sportsmen suffer and even find it too hard to carry on. Anyway happy Christmas everyone haha

Going into sweet shops and buying a quarter of whatever.
There's a shop down the road in Surfers where they still have all that, unbelievable what they have on their shelves, everything I remember and some I don't, called the English sweet shop or something like that.

I miss the broken biscuit counter in Ashton Market. I had a Saturday morning job on that market when I was still at school (around the time Hindley and Brady got that boy from near the market)......anyway used to go into the indoor market and buy half a pound of broken biscuits for not very much, eat them on the bus on the way home.
Ashton market was great in the 60's, full of fantastic characters..... in fact so was the rest of Ashton town centre.
