What footballing legends do you feel are overrated?

My most overrated for top 6 that I would know:


United: Cantona by a distance. Pre injury Keane a comfortable second.

Liverpool: Legend or not I'm saying Suarez. Fabulous player on his day but he was like the 2014 version of Fernandes; a bigtime flattrack bully. Much better at Barca.

Arsenal: To be controversial, I'll say Bergkamp. The stuff he's great with like his technique he deserves all the praise he gets but as an overall player I think he's in the Cantona category of overrated.

Chelsea: Drogba. I've had too many people tell me how much better he is than Aguero for me to think of him as anything other than overrated, even though he was obviously good.

Tottenham: King. We get it Tottenham fans, if he didn't have a funny knee he'd have been the greatest...

City: Zabaleta. One of the most genuinely easy to love players I've ever known with an amazing personality and spirit, he was nonetheless a bit overrated by City fans in terms of his overall quality.

This is a genuinely interesting list.

Cantona I’m in complete agreement. No one outside of the British isles talks about him in those terms, he was rammed down our throats as a “genius” but honestly wouldn’t have got in the Milan, Barcelona, Juventus etc teams of that era

Bergkamp though was my favourite non-City player growing up. Such an elegant player. But he wasn’t a big-game player and really didn’t win that much considering his talent.

Drogba was the opposite, a total big-game player. 10 goals in 10 finals is a phenomenal record. Not the most aesthetically pleasing perhaps but I think he deserves his accolades based on his record.

You’re a brave man with that Zaba shout on here, but you’re not necessarily wrong. A cult hero, for sure.
 
Carragher - legend according to dippers but like henchoz he needed hyppia babysitting him. giggs - great career but he never had a peak where you could say he was world class, pires was far better. Jack wheelchair pre injury. Benzema - again a great career but dont rate him as a great footballer. Firminho - not a patch on mane and salah

The Beckhams got their kids into top schools even though the kids were bang average. Brooklyn got to do a photography course and work with top photographers. He's still shite. His photos are terrible. I could do better with my phone. I think they were hoping that one of the other boys would be a tennis player and another would be a singer and now they're probably grooming Harper to be a model because they just have to have celebrity kids, they can't stay out of the fucking limelight.

Re Ferguson, his second spell with us had a lot of injuries and he was better the first time around.
 
David Seaman...Good goalie but not great.
He cost Arsenal and England quite a lot of important games and that so called effort in trying to save the shot by the family wrecker was terrible.
Arched his back and no effort to save the ####### thing from an easy angle.
