Scholes for me, nothing but a hard working midfield clogger who had no real creative ability, just ran around breaking up play (mostly by fouling the opponent and getting away with it) and capable of occasionally hitting one in from the edge of the area, usually when an attempted clearance fell nicely to him and he was unmarked.
I will have to repectfully disagree with your opinion of Scholes. He was easily the best midfielder of his generation and the England team should have been built around him, not Gerrard and Lampard.
He could do everything Ilkay is doing for us now, but was also far better as an no 6.
He was a million miles away from a clogger who just broke up play. He had a touch of pure class about him.
