What footballing legends do you feel are overrated?

This is blasphemy, but: Duncan Ferguson. Even though I did love him as a player.

Agreed about Beckham. He'll always be more famous for porking a Spice Girl and trying to groom his kids into becoming celebrities. Apparently his sons had trials with the rags but were all shit at football.
Just like their old man.

I feel like Messi and Ronaldo have really skewed my thinking as to what a good goalscoring record looks like. I look back on a lot of attackers considered "legends" and find myself underwhelmed by the goals-to-games ratio. Examples include Del Piero, Raul, Figo, Totti, Trezeguet and Andy Cole

Just as a slight counter argument ...I watched Totti play many times for Roma and he was a superb player. if he had played in any other league , he would have scored for fun.

I agree about Zidane, this video pretty much sums it up:

Don't get me wrong, he was excellent, but in no way should he be talked about in the same bracket as Cruyff, Maradona, Pele, Messi, etc. Platini was a better player than Zidane, its just that everyone's judgement on Platini is clouded by his time as UEFA president, but he was brilliant as a player.

Zola. Great player yes, but Italy was stacked with great attacking players in the 90's, with Baggio the pick of the bunch, which is why he was mostly an international bench warmer.
