What has the UK become?

A nation divided by politicians willing to court votes by demonising the vulnerable.

I went for lunch, yesterday, with my parents, and my mum mentioned that she was pleased that it looked like the 'whole benefits business' was going to end soon. My mum is 77, and has fallen into the government trap of blaming the weak. They believed the lies about Brexit, and voted for it, believing that immigration is the reason that they can't get a doctor's appointment. My grandma is 100, and just had to wait six hours for an ambulance after falling. You can imagine who is to blame for that. I am sickened, and saddened, that they have been seduced by charlatans who feed lies to their friends in the press, and equally saddened that they refuse to listen to contradictory views because of their own prejudices.

Yes I did - my question was directed at Govt supporters and the Govt itself who suddenly find loitering in parks something they need to act on - I'd imagine Boggart Hole Clough was opened to be a nice place to go for a Sunday stroll and yes loiter..................in 2023 thats something Tories say they need to "crack down" on. May as well turn it into a housing development.....oh hang on I see a plan....
So you read it but still come to the conclusion that the mentality he highlights, the one you continually (rightfully) rage at, is just down to the current government ?

There has been a dedicated scheme for Aghans who helped the MoD been going on for at least 10 years.

They are granted leave to remain before they get the the country and provide with a settled house for their family on arrival. They are not asylum seekers, but an idiot on twitter knows better.

The type of person who is an expert but doesn't realise the massive legal difference between refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, or the ongoing programmes people are working had at, yet doing nothing themselves but moan.

It is a piece in the Independent and other media. It has also been raised in the House re the difference between settlement under pathway one and pathway two, the latter being the one at issue. The inference is that up to and during the fall of Kabul we were resettling people, but after that we walked away and left them to it, hence the articles.

Still, there's a lot of jobs involved in armaments. When new submarine contracts are announced, it's more about the jobs than what the subs are for.

But who's this Clinton of whom he speaks?

Started the Russian/Ukraine conflict apparently.

My mum, before she passed away, had a similar view to yours regarding doctors appointments and hospitals.

Trying to explain that the main issues were underfunding and the governments obsession with privatisation by stealth was a main cause, fell on deaf ears.

There is light at the end of the tunnel,in that more people will come to realise, post brexit and whatnot, that they've been had over, hopefully we may then see a change for the better.

If the brexit catastrophe doesn't make people realise how incompetent/corrupt this shower are, there's little hope.
I'd move to a different European country if possible....

Your first paragraph could be described as a brexit positive then.

Accountability of our politicians for their policies.

It'll take a while yet,but it may come to pass.

They have always been accountable, but I agree they have nothing to hide behind or blame anymore. For domestic politics and politicians, shovelling the blame for every unpopular decision on the EU was a useful tactic.

Ha! it still is a useful tactic.
Now it's the e.u being intransigent or being deliberately difficult to deal with.

Even that won't wash for much longer.
