What make of dog for a beginner?

Do you want to be going out for walks a lot with it?

I’d suggest a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Don’t bark a lot, chilled out, don’t malt much, exceptionally clean, very loyal, safe around kids, not arsed about other dogs or even cats (just like to be friendly)...

Although like to dig holes! And will need lots of food and walks.

Another I’d suggest is a cross bread/mongrel. They are much healthier than pure breed dogs, who are actually all inbred and have many illnesses and disabilities because of the inbreeding. Often die earlier than a dog is supposed to because of their inbred caused illness.
Lovely dog the Ridge back. Don't see too many around now.
For laid blackness in a big dog you can't beat a rotti. Calmest dog I've ever had. Not recommended for a beginner though cos don't live long enough

We have a St.Bermastiff.
Saint Bernard, English Mastiff mix....absolutely fantastic dog. Size of a small horse but soft as a kitten.
