After 32 EPL games what must City do to attain CL club status. IMO we need to attain 71 pts. (1.87 pt. per match for CL status) for this season.
If we do that
A. Liverpool will not be able to surpass us (max. points for them will be 70 pts.)
B. Spurs need (13 pts. out of max 18 pts.) to contend with Arsenal, Chelsea, @ United,Bolton, @City & @ Burnley.
C. Aston Villa (17 pts. out of max 18 pts.) will have to contend with Everton, @Pompey, @ Hull, Birmingham, @ City and Blackburn.

Can City get 12 points? IMO its realistic (6 X 1.87 ~ 12 pts). It will be easier if we deploy our squad judiciously.

Append from a later post herein

IMO we need an estimated 1.87 pts/match for CL club status. ManCini's record to-date is 2.0 pts./match.
For reference his predeccessor record was 1.71.

In the past five seasons teams finishing in 4th place have done it with points ranging between 61-72 ........

so , at 59 points already , we are well on course.

However , as the 'bar' appears to have been raised in the fight for 4th position this season , maybe we should be looking at the upper limit of 72 points ......

and to achieve that we could probably do with approx four more wins from our last six games ..... maybe even three wins would be enough if we beat Villa and Spurs.

We'll beat united at home, of this I am convinced. Spurs will be a tough, tough match to win because at that time of the season it will be our penultimate game of the season and we'll more than likely need to win it. Against United we can almost 'relax' if that makes sense, like the cliche of 'form goes out the window'. I think we'll beat Brum, West Ham, United but can't call any other results to be honest. All i know is I can't think of much else at the minute, other than us grabbing that 4th place.

Beat Spurs and we'll be seriously close.

Definitely! We need to have a lineup thats should be bent on WINNING, seeking draws will not suffice! We have the wherewithal to defeat any team including United, Chelsea and Arsenal! No two holding M/Fs in the starting lineup!

I think we have to assume Villa Liverpool and Spurs win all or almost all o their games!

Villa can attain 72 points! but we must assume we will beat them at home and that'll give them 69 points!

Liverpool can only attain 70 points!

Spurs can attain 76 points! but we must assume we will beat them at home and that'll give them 73 points!

Which means we must achieve 73 points and a superior goal difference, or 74 points! To do that we must win a further 14 points from 6 games which could come from 4 wins and 2 draws (unbeaten!) or 5 wins and a loss (75 points!) (of any I'd rather lose to Arsenal than United as I'm assuming we're going to beat Brum and West Ham, and we must beat Villa and Spurs!)

However, it is possible all teams will drop points and the targets can be decreased but I still think we should aim for 74 or 75 points rather than just do what is enough - for two reasons: 1. because it'll make us look great and 2. so Everton (if they gain 15 from 15 and get 65 points) are nowhere near us!

COME ON CITY!!!!!!!!

since big rob has taken over we have been averaging at least 2 points a game havnt we? if we had that record all season we would have easily got in the top 4.

Did we really need another thread on this?

People are excited mate. Besides, i'd rather see Blues making threads about things like this rather than wasting their time creating ones about green and gold scarves, as was posted this morning. We're all buzzing at the minute as EVERY result went our way and its made us go into pole position for 4th.
