to be League Champions? What was it like to be at Newcastle on the day we last won the league?

If we win it this season will it feel different? How will it be different? Will it be better?

I would love to hear the experiences of anyone priviledged enough to remember our last league title just so that i can start preparing myself for our next one.

I'm not trying to be arrogant or tempt fate. I'm genuinely interested and genuinely believe we won't have too long to wait even if 2012 isn't our year.

I wondered what it would be like to win any cup. Turns out it's fucking brilliant. I imagine winning the league to be even better. Imagine if it's shite, what an anticlimax.

It was utterly wonderful - though I suspect the feeling was massively enhanced by the fact that we knew it had to be us or them!
Although all cup wins are also fantastic occasions as all of today's Blues now know a lot is added to the occasion by the attention the final gets from all over the globe plus the weeks of build-up by the media. Success is heavily influenced by the draws for each round and nobody can deny that luck can play a huge part in determining the eventual winner e.g. home draw or away - quality of the opposition etc and only 6 matches to be negotiated to win the trophy.
That is not intended in any way to devalue any FA cup win but there can be no comparison to the emotions generated by becoming Champions of England having played every top tier club twice over a full season and the respect from all football fans everywhere that brings to the club.
Our win at Newcastle in 1968 will be remembered forever by those who witnessed it (no live TV coverage in those days) - not least because it was an absolutely cracking game - they resolutely refused to lie down in the face of the best team in the country and kept coming back at us - but also because the Newcastle fans stayed at the end to join in our delirious celebrations (very little segregation then which I think is why so many thousands of Blues were there!) - and I don't know about the evening experiences of other Blues - but we didn't buy a drink all the time we were in the pub afterwards!
I can certainly recommend it and hope with everything I've got that all Blues everywhere are just a few months away now from experiencing it for themselves - Last away game in 67/8 season - Newcastle - Last away game 2011/12 season - Newcastle - biggest challenger this season - them again !

In conclusion - only feeling ever since to come anywhere near it - Gillingham which ran it very close !

Yes, it was absolutely fantastic, especially the drive home in the coach with banners flying everywhere. I seem to remember getting a little annoyed with the ref as he disallowed two (what seemed) perfect goals. Imagine 6-3 in Geordie land!!!!!

Magical day, great game between 2 great sides and the Geordie fans were almost as happy as we were. They stayed behind and applauded us and the team.I was 15 at the time and went with a load of schoolmates from Burnage Grammar.Ended up in a boozer in Leeds and didn't have to buy a drink all night,it was full of Leeds fans who were delighted it was us and not the red shite who had won it.The difference between then and winning it now would be that we only got promoted 2 seasons before and the whole transformation happened so quickly,it was breathtaking. Will still enjoy it this year though.

I can't wait for this game to come around, although I'd love to have won it at home to United ;)
