I was at the game, but can't remember when it was. It was raining really badly, but I think we were 4-0 up when the ref stopped it. Wasn't Vonk playing as a makeshift striker who managed to score twice?

We won the rematch 2-1 if I remember rightly with Rocastle scoring a beauty

Edit: it might not have been Leicester, maybe Ipswich? Definitely a team in dark blue!

Yes 2-0.
If I recall correct, the ''replay'' was Frannie Lee's first game in charge and the game with that turn and run by Rocky Rocastle.
We had another game with Ipswich abandoned too a few years later (League Cup game??) The ref waited for City to equalize (Dickov) and called it off straight away! Won the second game.

I understand why the OP thought it was the Leicester game as there was one game against them at Maine Road that deffo should have been abandoned (if not started!) Weaver was in nets so think it was 99/00 season

Just to add... There were 2 Ipswich games abandoned, both at Maine Road in the stadium's final decade.

3/1/94 City 2-0 Ipswich Ingebrigtsen (his 'only' League goal, scrubbed from the records) & Vonk; Att: 20,306. Abandoned after 39 mins (replay ended 2-1 to City on 5/2, 28,188, Griffiths & Flitcroft).

12/12/2000 City 1-1 Ipswich, Dickov, 23,260, abandined after 23 mins (replay ended 1-2, 19/12, Goater, 31,252), League Cup).

Thanks Gary - just looking at the attendances for the two games in 2000.
If I recall the ''replay'' was free to any one with their ticket from the first game and a fiver or tenner to anyone else, hence an 8000 increase.
