Where has all this awesomeness come from?

I know it's early days, but what the hell? The start of this season, we have looked imperious. So many class players. What has changed, do people think?

What changed was we won fuck all last season. So we're motivated again. Next season we'll be disinterested again, then the season after we'll be class again. The City way.

Sterling is making a difference on the left with Kolarov. Silva is looking very good, and he's putting some tackles in as well. Sagna was imperious against Chelsea. The defence seems better, although the Rags also haven't conceded yet, so let's not get too carried away.

As a real Blue, I'm now thinking we'll fuck right up against Watford.....

I hope that the club review at the end of last season hs been meaningfull and has addresssed the tactical, physical and mental reasons why we were off the pace last season. It certainly seams to have and the squad are using a common language of 'hunger' whenever they are interviewed,

I think it's down to the players being really honest with themselves after last season. They know they are better than that and really want to show it. Add to that all the so called 'experts' tipping everyone but us to win the league and u get a squad who now look like they have really fucking bonded and said "ok we'll show u what we can do!"

Don't count the chickens...

Still early days. I mean the Vermin haven't lost either yet :/
They've played awful football.

I think we have upped our tempo dramatically both in attack and when we lose the ball in our attempt to regain posession.

It has been a great start and like last season the team looks a lot better balanced playing a 4-2-3-1.

The fullbacks have better cover by the wide players and the gaping hole in midfield is stiffened by Silva playing central rather than an additional striker.

Chuck in improved players form and we look unstoppable at the minute. There is a long way to go though.

it will be interesting to see how our shape changes if and when KDB comes in.. I think one of the reasons why we have looked so good early this season is because we have two quick out and out wingers on either side.. kdb, from the little i have seen of him, is not an out and out winger so I'm curious to see if pelligrini will continue playing on the right wing sacrificing the pace of navas..

This... got draw written all over it!

More desire, hunger and pride to put right the "failings" of last season. The increased competition for places has been a kick up the arse for some. The fitness, improved form and leadership of Kompany, the balance and pace that Sterling adds, the early season form of Silva in his best role behind the striker and the growing confidence that each successive win has brought and the dramatic improvement (defensively) of Sagna and Kolarov allowing Pellegrini to keep an unchanged defence.

I think Sterling has made a big difference. He now gives us pace of attack wide on both flanks, and at last we have a wide left sided player who will work with AK both in attack AND defence. It's reinvented our left channel. And it doesn't matter that he's not on top of his game yet, just him being there frightens defences and pulls players out wide, making gaps our midfield is clearly enjoying. And I'm enjoying it too.

I know what you mean about the pace of Navas. It's the infuriating lack of a consistent end product. Even so he pins teams back and indirectly creates problems. I guess my feeling is that we need more goals from our wide players in this formation and bruyne looks the better option. But if we don't get him it won't be the end of the world. Navas is looking a lot better than last season.

I would say that FFP and not being able to bring in strength to our squad was the problem thus the players got a little to secure with there places....

Different story this season and they know it.

Two reasons. First, everyone is playing in their correct positions.

Before Sterling we either stuck Nasri or Silva on the left due to lack of anyone to play left winger. Nasri doesn't have the pace to beat his man, which means he doesn't have the pace to cover for Kolarov. So sometimes we'd put Silva there, which limited his effectiveness. No matter how we lined up, we were imbalanced because both Silva and Nasri prefer to work centrally.

Now we have pace on the left. Kolarov can focus on getting forward, Silva can play centrally where he's most effective, and we finally have speed on the counter.

Also it seems Kompany took it personally that people wondered if he was declining. He is a new man with a fire we didn't see last season and it's rubbing off on everyone. The defenders are playing like men possessed. Even Yaya is taking his defensive responsibilities more seriously and he's hanging back rather than recklessly powering forward. We finally have our captain back.

I think those two factors are the key differences.

We've played no one decent yet ;)

I'm cautious because there is always one team that starts a season looking imperious but then they will often fade away. hoping this isn't us but we won't know until we get an injury or two to key players or lose a game (or even concede a goal).

One of the key things for me is that we are not seeing any major individual errors like we saw cost us points early last season. We also seem to be enjoying ourselves more than we did early last year and I think the transfer window, move to the CFA and the new stand is creating an excitement and momentum that wasn't around going into the start of the previous season
