Yaya seems to be undroppable when he's fit. Dinho's on fire, we haven't seen Fernando yet. Delph must get in the C.L. squad cos he's English, so who gets dropped when he plays?

i think he plays in a midfield three with yaya and fernandinho, we'll probably see him more away from home in big games. will give us a more solid look and allow yaya to get forward more without any defensive responsibility

I'd like to see him played in a 3 in Europe but i doubt he will be. I think it's more likely we'll see him left midfield to solidify the midfield against better teams and just to come in on rotation as part of a 2 in midfield in the league.

We will have enough games to rotate the four holding midfielders.
I feel Delph will come in as and when fernandinho and yaya need a rest, maybe after a tough champs league game.
He will obviously get games in both cup competitions too.

Delph will be played, centrally, on a decent number of occasions. We've got Yaya, Fernandinho, Fernando and Delph, all of who will be used centrally, in a form of rotation that isn't fully clear at this point. As out new formation(s) seem to be 4-5-1, or 4-3-3 depending on the situation, we need more midfielders than strikers this season, born out by us allowing Jovetic and Dzeko to leave, and signing no-one else who would be classed, predominantly, as a striker. Delph will get his opportunities.

I cant see this, if de bruyne (fingers crossed he signs) is fit we are always gonna go with the main front four the majority of the time. Dont see us leaving out one of our 50 million pound signings against the big teams.

Reckon delph will be used to close out games, fill in for injuires and used when we rest fern or yaya

I expect we'll use Delph to play a Fernandinho style role in the side in the same system but more so away from home where we might sacrifice one of the attacking players for an extra man in midfield.

With Delph in the squad we can rest Yaya and play him and Fernandinho with Sterling, Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero/Bony as well if we want to have a bit more balance.

His role will become clearer as the season goes on, he will be of particular use in the CL and away games for added balance. I fully expect to see City look for more of a grip and defensive element in CL games, particularly away from home.

Taking a strategic view at the CL group stage - you need 10pts generally to qualify. Win all three at home and pick up what you can away. The pressure is on the home side to win so we can set up to contain them with a solid midfield and counter attack.

In the knockouts with the away goal aspect, we can play a solid team aiming not to concede away and then play a more attack minded side at home.

There's also the possibility we move Silva back to a wide position in some games and cover him defensively with Delph/Fernando alongside Fernandinho and Yaya.

Gives us so many options. We can also rest Silva now and though he's irreplaceable directly, still be confident we can create chances and score goals. De Bruyne can do a good job in the no.10 role as well.

We've got some really good options.
