Where/ how does Delph fit in?

Personally think Delph will stay and be a good squad player in 16/17.
The only reason he would stay is to keep up the british quota of players. If we get Stones, Fabian would probably be in the revolving door going out as he comes in. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up as part of that deal he's an Everton type of player

I think he'll feature in more games than many might think. He's intelligent, combative and can play in numerous positions.

People talk about Pep players a lot implying that to play for Pep you need to be an exceptionally good technical player. Whilst that is true I think it is only part of the picture and you also need to be exceptionally disciplined and willing to run yourself into the ground working to a set pressing system and passing and moving to retain possession. I’m not sure some of our more technical players will be able to live up to the demands (Nasri / Yaya). I can see Delph doing well under Pep.

6 months ago the more prescient of our supporters were suggesting that fitness permitting Delph should come in for Toure.

I hope this works out well for Delph. Seems a good guy and good for team cohesion. He has it in him to be a great player. Time will tell...

You could not fault his effort in the friendlies. He looked a beast at times, speed, energy and not frightened to put his foot in. His distribution wasn't that bad either. I would not write the boy off yet. Saw a typical Daily Fail article this morning that classed him as a failure at City. I don't agree with that, he hasn't been given time or games in an injury hit season to make that assertion. If he stays fit, I think he will be a very productive and useful squad player.

I think Delph has much better technical ability than a lot of people give him credit for. I'm guilty of it myself, but I've thought he's looked really tidy in preseason - moving the ball very quickly through midfield.

Because he was given a role at Villa where he just ran wherever he wanted he also has a reputation as being a bit headless, but I think he could really flourish under a coach who will give him a really clearly defined role.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was something of a revelation, and sees a lot of game time as our box-to-box midfielder.
