Which foreign teams do you have a soft spot for and why?

Yeah I forgot them, and that team, Buffon, Thuram, Veron, Crespo, Chiesa to name a few. Ridiculously they didn't win a title did they?

I think they won 2 or 3 cups in Europe and a few domestic trophies but don't think they have ever won the league.

Yep. I was speaking to a middle aged couple (Freiburg fans) sat directly behind me in the home ems and they were lovely.

Spoke to some Union Berlin fans in the home end at Schalke two days earlier and they were spot on. One asked who I supported in England and when I said City, he was shocked and said his lad back in Berlin loved us. I gave him a badge to give to his lad.

I went back to my seat after half time and the Schalke fan next to be who was about 60 had bought me a pint.

They simply love their football and having a beer and a chat. So welcoming. I’ll be heading straight back there once restrictions are lifted. My missus has even said “You need a Germany trip to straighten your head.”
The straighten your head comment has made me laugh, as a German match is a full on piss up for us with the bar being open before, throughout and after the game
My brother broke his collar bone after one game, that pissed he fell off his bike

I quite like Hibernian and Dundee United as well. Hubs mainly because of Irvine Welsh books and Dundee United because of their 80’s kit and that Jim Maclean team that punched well above their weight.

We went on holiday to Scotland about 1987. My Dad bought the Dundee United Subbuteo team and remarkably put it in his bedside drawer. Me and our kid weren’t allowed to play with it.

Normal blokes have a jazz mag stashed in their bedside drawer. Not a fucking Scottish Subbuteo team.

I hope Pannick doesn’t see this thread. You’ll be in Shit Street.
quite the name drop.

I said I found it funny that Blues were celebrating a win out of the rags playbook, given we've been on the end of that kind of defeat so many times in recent times so they tend to sting a bit when you see them. People follow other teams, though there is a difference between having favourite foreign teams and actively following another club as well as City.

During the first lockdown, we were sat at the dining room table having tea one night. She broke the silence by putting down her knife and fork, looking me in the eye and saying “I don’t know how the fuck you’re carrying on without football but you’re managing it. If work furlough you though, you’re fucked.”

She then casually picked up her knife and fork and carried on eating.

I actually prefer Dundee United and Hibernian over Rangers but they’re not going to win the league. I simply want Rangers to beat Celtic and I suspect that’s the case for most of the blues on that thread.

The reason for the “celebrating” is because our resident Bhoy was on here last night proclaiming the stuffing Rangers were about to receive.

His utter delusion that today was a great day for Celtic has only added to the delight.
