Which MOD Keeps On merging posts for the good of the forum

I fully appreciate that Ric wants to tidy up BM and put every thread in it's correct forum via the MODS, but why change the title of threads? Another case of.......(fill in as appropriate)

Erm.......... considering I live in Cheadle Heath, I certainly wouldn't have and didn't come up with that title.(below) :-?

Regardless. There's no need to change thread titles. Next they'll be asking me to sign in and not to use capital letters in the title. ;-)

They don't change the thread title, they merge it with one or more other threads, and only one thread title can remain. Unfortunately it wasn't your thread title that was kept on this occasion, it was the other poster's.

No. It has been changed. Merged or not. I'm the OP. That is not my title.

I'm with you brother. Next step on the road to rebellion is adding to an existing brother's thread rather than starting another one. Fight the power.

No, it's been merged. It all depends on how you merge the threads. Whichever one you select first (I think) 'decides' upon the the title of the thread.

If you look at the last post on page 2 you'll see that this post has the title you're on about.

Is it really that important anyway?
 
I think the first topic created on the subject should be the thread that contributes the title, if it has to be like that. It's only fair as the OP, in effect, created the newly merged thread. It surely wouldn't take a lot of effort on the mods' part to see which thread was posted first, would it?

As has already been mentioned, we don't change the thread titles. It's just to do with the way we merge them. I agree we should take more care to ensure the original post gets the thread title (in this case it was actually me, sorry), but equally it would help us if people checked if a topic already existed before starting a duplicate one.
