Which players are no longer good enough?

I still find it ironic that Mangala,Fernando, and Otamendi, all featured for the opposition when City defeated Porto over two legs in 2012. However, one of City’s non playing substitutes, Stefan Savic might play in the Champions League Final in a few weeks.

Funny how reputations can change so quickly, when a player is exposed to good/bad/non existent coaching.
Hopefully a few of our players will improve under Guardiola, because it won't be easy selling our misfits.

If we are to build a squad to be up there with the best, he's not good enough. Limited footballer, but we've got far to many of them at the minute.

You say limited footballer (which i don't actually agree with), but his role is a very specific, specialised role. He's not claiming to be a box to box player. He might not be required every game but every team needs a player like him and i don't see a viable better alternative.

I think the issue with Fernando is that him and Fernandinho are too alike but Fernandinho just edges it. They are both effective at breaking up play and dominating a midfield but distribution and creativity are both relatively poor. We have missed that cleverness and creativity since Toures basically got old/ cant be arsed and we badly need it back. One of the two of them has to make way for a Pogba/ Vidal type player.

I wouldn't say they are that alike. Fernandinho made his name as a more attack minded box to box player at Shakhtar he just had to adjust his game to accommodate Yaya in midfield. Who knows what system pep will use next season but if he goes for 3 in midfield i can easily see both Ferns being 2 of the 3 with a more attack minded player (silva/kdb?) joining them.

Most of our lack of creativity imo comes from a complete lack of fluidity and movement. That's something you won't get from a Pep side. Navas wide right and his inability to use his left foot or take on a man is probably the primary problem there

Fernando won every challenge today and some he had no right to. I think he went off as he is a defensive player and we needed a goal and he had the Real madrid game in his legs.

I think its easier to say which ones are good enough and start from there.
Joe
Vinny ( if he can sort out his injuries)
Silva
KDB,
Fernandinho,
Sergio
Nacho
Sterling (only because I can't believe he's this poor, he has to be better than this surely)

I'd agree with you except for Sterling. If we let it be known he was available would Barca, Real or Bayern even look? Not a chance. I have no idea where he gets any rating from, but in all the games I've seen he's no better than Sinclair or Johnson. A complete waste of £50m, but then this regime has a great track record of crap signings look no further than the £80m on Mangala (worst ever signing) and Otamendi

I don't care if Pep spends £200m, but please can we have some quality signings for our cash

Aside from Aguero, KDB, Sterling, Mangala and Kelechi, I don't see any of the other's being around come the 2017-2018 season.
