4th only gets you to the qualifying rounds to get into the group stages and we could easily come up against some strong opposition and end up in the Europa anyway. I do not think the qualifying stages of the CL would sway the minds of any players that were not sure they wanted to come to us anyway. Get third then maybe as we would be in the group stages.

I know you know you know. I was commenting on the fact that it will not have that much of an impact on the thoughts of potential transfer targets. I thought that was the main thrust of your post. Or was it not.

4th and a bad champs league means we would be out after the qualifyer and in the Europa anyway. We would not be in the group stages. Any potential transfer targets will not be swayed by the fact we get fourth. If they want to come they will come anyway (maybe swayed by a large paypacket) Only when we are established asone of the top 1 or 2 teams in the premier and regularly go straight into the group stages of the champions league will we attract the top calibre of player who is concerned about being guaranteed champions league football. This is different to saying we cannot attract the top calibre of player who is interested in "the project" or a pay packet or playing for particular manager.
