Whiskey In The Jar

Boys are back in town, the rocker and southbound for me. Live & Dangerous is by far the best album too.

They are all classics indeed.

I'll go for the less proclaimed King's Call from Lynott's solo offerings with Mark Knopfler on guitar.

It was a rainy night the night the king went down
Everybody was crying it seemed like sadness had surrounded the town
Me I went to the liquor store
And I bought a bottle of wine and a bottle of gin
I played his records all night
Drinking with a close, close friend

Class.

Emerald. best song amongst many lizzy classics like cowboy song, rocky, showdown, wild one, waiting for an alibi, jailbreak, i could go on...

I can even forgive Lynott for being a red...........A poet, and still sadly missed.

I used to go in The Crown & Anchor near Stevenson Square & there was a big signed picture of Phil behind the bar.I never realised the significance of an Irish rocker with a Manchester pub until about 5 years ago. There was an article in the MUEN about his mum who used to run a guest house in Manchester (in Whalley Range I think).

Emerald was Lizzys best song IMO.
Skyclad did a great cover of it.

Whiskey in the jar, was not an original Lizzy song, but a cover of an old Irish folk song.(and it was great hearing Metallica doing Irish folk music)
