Who’s gone in the summer?

Maybe we shouldn’t have bought Grealish who I know is a fantastic player but priority lies somewhere else in our attack and even if we find a buyer for Laporte, it leaves our central defence heavily exposed as we are a Dias injury away from being terribly light at the back.

100% agree.

Anything less than 75m for Laporte is utter and total madness.

And even at that price, someone is getting a bargain.
Very highly unlikely any team will pay £60m as no team seems to want to spend that. So no point asking for £75m.

City have probably set a figure that may just tempt another club for a player of Laporte's calibre. If they get it they will settle for that price and if they don’t they are not arsed as Laporte will just have to get on with it and at the end of the day Laporte is a top player and he is ours for now.

We're a club who players fall over themselves to come to because we have a great reputation for paying well, providing a top tier working environment and treating players with respect.

Part of that reputation is maintained by not standing in any player's way when they decide they want to leave.

Unfortunately, you might have a figure in mind of what Laporte might be worth but if nobody will pay it then it becomes problematic to the player and his ambitions.

£60m is a more than reasonable fee to demand without deterring any suitors.

We know the the club is run excellently, and laportes wages will be a factor, but can anyone seriously say he is worth only £10M more than white, regardless if we can afford to take such a low price and as it removes a biggish wage (do we know what he earns tbh). Just wondering why should our top tallent be sold for less than there worth.

It was more from the perception from outside, I was answerig about selling low, we have cunts calling us cheapskates this morning, them same ones will be trying to take the piss if we sell a player of I am erics ability for a seemingly lower than his worth price.
Whilst what you say is true there is an added factor of a lot of skint clubs, certainly outside of the Premier League. We certainly know Bernie wants a move back to Iberia. Aymeric might be the same. Either way I wouldn’t want to sell them to a Premier League competitor.
Nobody can deny that we have seen a massive switch in our transfer business this summer. We have bought and been heavily involved in two English stars at £100 million (+) mark.

as with Bernardo some on here still think its 18/19 season not 20/21 with regards to a players level

Laporte started off very strong and was excellent until his injury. It seemed to take him quite a while to come back and it hasn't been to the same level that he was which is understandable (not having a go at him, ACL injuries suck)

since he has come back he has made errors in important games - we kind of expected Stones to make the odd error, it's in his make up - but Laporte seemed to be the one in key games

Add into the equation he just doesn't want to fight for his place. Stones could have done the same but got his head straight and built an excellent partnership with Dias.

I didn't see many games at the Euro's - the highlights that stick in my head was seeing Laporte bullied by the striker and not showing fight or desire to win the header costing his team the goal, this sums up where he is at currently.
