Who are you currently obsessed with musically ?

Nobody in particular, but one tune that was released earlier this year gets regularly played. It’s quite simply one of the greatest tracks I’ve ever heard…
Stevie Ray Latham - Dionysus Blues

Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton at the moment.

He might have been shit for 50 years and spouts bonkers conspiracy theories that's still outweighed by one album recorded in 1966.

I’m trying to get into roots rock but I’m not sure what it is, from what I gather it’s southern rock music going back to its roots that includes blues bluegrass country folk. Covers a huge area but there is a certain sound that I really gravitate to but I can’t explain it very well.

I love roots rock - for me it’s stuff played on mainly acoustic instruments (acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, accordion etc)

Some of my favourite albums in this category:

The Lonesome Jubilee - John Mellencamp (my favourite album of all time)
Living With The Law - Chris Whitley
Walk On - John Hiatt
The Mountain - Steve Earle
One Way Home - The Hooters

And more recently, a couple of albums by The Brothers Comatose (Songs from the Stoop and Respect the Van).

I’ve heard a couple of Mellencamp songs, are those you listed similar in style to the ones I put above your post.

The albums I listed are more in the roots/Americana vein, which is similar to the "Man of Constant Sorrow" that you posted above (that's a great film by the way). Lots of twanginess where you can hear the acoustic instruments.

Having a quick listen to some of the other stuff you posted, I'd say that that is closer to blues/rock. This is also a style I like and a few recent albums that stick out from that genre include Myles Kennedy ("Year of the Tiger") and The Cold Stares ("Ways" and "Mountain").
