Who are you currently obsessed with musically ?

The albums I listed are more in the roots/Americana vein, which is similar to the "Man of Constant Sorrow" that you posted above (that's a great film by the way). Lots of twanginess where you can hear the acoustic instruments.

Having a quick listen to some of the other stuff you posted, I'd say that that is closer to blues/rock. This is also a style I like and a few recent albums that stick out from that genre include Myles Kennedy ("Year of the Tiger") and The Cold Stares ("Ways" and "Mountain").

Good tunes. I looked up Americana the other week and have a Spotify list to get through. The amount of styles it covers is huge. Basically the south. I think there is a lot of crossover from blues into folk country rock etc....

Need to get searching

Every few weeks there's a artist/group that I get really into and listen too constantly.
I read and watch anything that I can find based on that artists music career.
At this very moment it's the Rolling Stones. Such a great body of work that was overlooked by me due to the monstrous hits that overshadowed everything else they've done. I can't complain the hits are what introduced me to the group but the hits are also the least listened to on my Stones playlist.
Spotify is great for all this.
So who's work at this time are you exclusively hooked/focused on? How long has it been?
Sophie Hunger, amazing, I listen to her every day (I drive for a living, so iPod is on for 12 hours a day)

Andy Partridge - more his solo work than the XTC stuff( though that in itself is worthy of an obsession)

Boards of Canada. (1998 - 2013)

I’m trying to get into roots rock but I’m not sure what it is, from what I gather it’s southern rock music going back to its roots that includes blues bluegrass country folk. Covers a huge area but there is a certain sound that I really gravitate to but I can’t explain it very well.
Americana?
Or is that something else?
Americana covers what you seem to be describing and covers all sorts like Alison Krauss and Union Station if you’re looking for bluegrass, to Dylan etc., for folk and various elements of southern rock/folk mixes like Credence Clearwater or The Band or Allman Bros. stuff.
There’s some brilliant honest music under this genre.

Have a look:

Great list - 4 of my all-time top 10 artists in the top 50 (Springsteen, Mellencamp, Petty & Hiatt) plus plenty of other artists I like.

Love credence, problem with these lists is they become too wide which is understandable really. But I saw acts like ZZ top and even hank Williams. I think I will just have to listen to a lot of stuff. One thing I notice is the stuff I really like seem more obscure.

I'm on a mission so thanks for these recommendations they are being written down.
