Strange the way things go. I remember when the FA ran the league
The FA does not seem to run the premiership any longer its run by SKY sports. This opening day game between Man City and Man united gets to be played on a Sunday with no premier league games been played. While such a cup match as the FA cup the cup that is supposed to represent the teams who are members of the FA gets demoted as it was last season to just another game and played while league matches went on around it.
There was a time the FA cup was held just like tomorrows community shield (charity shield) with a day all to itself.
One has to wonder will the mistake of holding the FA CUP as just another game be made again this season. Or will the FA have the balls to tell Sky to feck off and give the FA CUP the respect its history deserves.

Take Sky out of the Premier league and you wont have a Premier League, like it or not Sky's input has made the Prem 1 of the best leagues in the world, but yeh shame theres no backbone in the FA.

Tomorrow isn't the opening day of the season. I think they said the FA Cup will again be on a premier league weekend but all games will be moved to Sunday i think.

The Football Association Premier League Ltd. run the Barclays Premier League, not The Football Association Ltd.

The Football Association Premier League Ltd. is owned by the 20 clubs in the Premier League. The Football Association Ltd is a special shareholder and has the power of veto on certain matters such as appointment of chairman and chief exec. promotion & relegation but not other areas of Premier League work

The Football Association Ltd. run the FA Cup

Not disagreeing with you though pal, Sky and Disney (ESPN) have too much influence on our domestic National winter sport.

the FA doesn't run the premiership and never has though it has major influence, the charity shield isn't the opening day, the FA cup was only on the same day as other matches due to extrenuous circumstances and the FA were not happy that it was held on the same day as PL matches, with the chairman, David bernstine speaking out against it it will be on a seperate day this year as wembley will not be hosting the CL final again (though it may be on the same day as PL games in 2013 as wembley will be hosting the CL again, due to unique circumstances)

to sum up this was a one off that had nothing to do with sky but with uefa rules regarding the requirements for hosting the CL final
