Is the guy from Derby county already in place and working ?

Yes...Tom Glick - but, in the background/bunker keeping schtumm whilst planning 'world domination TM' etc.

Best way really...I'm not sure if I can take anymore business speak 'going forward'. That language is best kept mashed into the fabric of an Excel chart.

A Garry cook thread brings me out the woodwork nearly as quickly as a Mancini one or an Agenda one. I'm consistent in my hatred at least ;-)

I've said it before, but I miss some of that swagger and bravado people of his ilk bring to us. It would be ace to find someone who could bring us that belief and positivity without the huge gaffes but I genuinely believe we need someone who gives us that "fuck yeah!" feeling. Cook, whatever his mistakes, whatever his inadequacies, certainly brought that to us in spades and brought us a lot of positivity. As has been documented elsewhere, plenty of people in the club thought he was very good at what he did and thought he made a difference and a positive difference at that.

Fair play DD !!

I think with him at the helm we would have made more 'progressive' signings in the close season. Far, far too much hatred on this thread about a bloke who only ever done good for the club - here we go.......

Without Cook I wonder whether the Sheikh would have bought us at all. So my thanks to Gary, but as Roosevelt once said: "If you speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." is the best policy.

Having had the good fortune to have meet Garry Cook i can say he is a man who had the needs of us the ordinary fans as a high consideration. I am 52 and a blue from 8 years old so have seen and met many involved in the running of our club, and few have been as open as Garry as many a supporters club will agree . Sure he may have said and even done some things wrong but who hasnt at work or when chatting about City ? Garrys time at City was when the media had an agenda to slur and derail City's rise in the football word, and as such I do believe Garry was a victim of much mud slinging , most of which he dealt with in a dignified and professional way allowing the club to progress to where we are now.
I for one would love to know how he sees City now and his reaction to our success , and his hopes for Citys future.

Gary Cook was better than the new guy now hands down, he's not interested in the foundations and bricks and roads of MCR - I'm done with football, new guy new guys cronies - all change for change sake. it will all change again in2/3 you mark my words. Consistency is what we need.
NOT constant change.

Not wanting to disappoint, I'll just say that this phrase:

Just been and had a couple of beers with Gary Cook

should be inscribed above the tunnel at City to remind the players what it is all about. It is a mantra that we should all aspire to.

Oh, and:

Gary Cook was better than the new guy now hands down

that has just been uttered, in all seriousness.

being consistently bad is not an answer

the games up for our current set up and tactics we need a change I thought today watching the match I don't enjoy this team any more and not cause we lost we are a ghost team we turns up rattles around frighten a few but most just brush us aside because they're not frightened any more need to get the show back to life

If it wasn't for the unfortunate incident with the email we could have been looking at a new motto on the club badge: Cookus Couplus Beerus.

You are both quick to deride posters citing their encounters with Cook as to why they have a high opinion of him.

We all form views of people we have not met; from politicians to, dare I say, football managers. This is an entirely normal human trait. When we then meet someone in person who we otherwise know through the media it is equally natural for this to build on or disabuse us of our preconceptions. I have met a few well known people in the course of my life (including those within football) and some have turned out to be much nicer than I was expecting and others have been complete arseholes. I have always relayed these encounters to people when these 'celebrities' (I use the term advisedly with regards to some of them) come up in general conversation. To expect someone to do differently is absurd tbh. That is all posters are doing here.

I think there is currency in what people think of Garry Cook based on their personal interactions with him. There seems to be a common thread about his approachability and sincerity. I have worked in an industry where an ability to interact with people is an essential characteristic and so I see the value of someone who has that gift. It is not something to be mocked and sneered at.

It clearly doesn't cover a multitude of other shortcomings, but an ability to relate to and show a degree of respect to people from different backgrounds to yourself is something to be admired, not sniffed at, imo.

Competitive, ambitious and a winner (and thought a lot of the bread and butter fans). If we don't act in the January window, will miss him all the more! Nice of the new Barca Boys to give a shit about the fans - not a peep so far!
