So someone on another forum suggested Alaba from Bayern. Hasn't there been talk for years that he wants to play in midfield? He can absolutely play that ferna role to perfection, not too old and I can see Bayern sell him for 50-65m.

How's Alaba being playing recently? I wouldn't keep up to date with much of the German league tbh.
If Pep could get him at his best then it would be a fantastic signing given he's another world class LB to have as well.

There's a different Danilo that plays there for Porto, although our Danilo has shown for us he's capable of the role.Danilo? Think he played there for Porto. Has the energy and pace required of the CDM role.

More of a free role and he's not great at it tbh. He's a wide player whatever he thinks he is. Iirc Guardiola played him at centre half more often than central midfield.He plays there for the national team

Anyone else think Stones could be transformed to a DM, and we buy Maguire? Stones is brilliant on the ball, good passer, he`s intelligent, has decent pace and is a great tackler. His only shortcoming IMO, is his marking and concentration at times, and I don`t think that would be exposed to an equal extent, as if he was playing CB

Given time I personally think this would work and buying Maguire would also help us when Komps finally hangs up his boots :(. The problem is we have 3 more years of Pep, so buying someone who is used to playing the required role should give us more opportunities to win titles. We've just paid £57m for Laporte who's basically a better Maguire. No way will we pay a club record fee for him now.

I think he could be the man.
CBs: Maguire, Laporte, Otamendi and KompanyWe've just paid £57m for Laporte who's basically a better Maguire. No way will we pay a club record fee for him now.
DMs: Fernandinho, Stones, Gundogan

to buy a cb for 70 million just to move a cb to dm does not make any sense. rather stop pissing about and buy proper dm
