Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

Tbf, they are between a rock and a hard place as there are plenty out there claiming benefits which they probably swung the lead to obtain.

I feel those with genuine disabilities won't be targeted as such and will continue to be looked after.
Dream on.
You want to wise up.
I suggest the website https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/.
It will open your eyes as to how this govt have been targeting those with genuine disabilities for years.

Of course all fraud is wrong but we were discussing benefit fraud.

Not dismissing your statement of those genuinely in need not being treated well, but on the flip side, I know plenty who have and continue to be treated fairly. Guess it comes down to those doing assessments.

My mum was on Invalidity benefit between 1983-2013. She had a man in a wheelchair land on her back whilst working and wasn’t able to work after that.

In late 2013, she was migrated onto ESA and placed in the working assessment group, where she was forced to seek work because her new assessment assessed her as fit for work.

She died 6 weeks later.

It‘s worse now than it was in 2013.

It doesn’t come down to who does the assessments. It comes down to the targets set by their bosses.

That’s nice of her…I mean we only have a labour force shortage of around a million, so it’s not like have a bleeding choice. Expect more migration liberalisation as we go on.

Is that "I will allow more migrants IN to pick fruit"? Or "I will abandon our failed points-based system and Pritti Patel can lump it"?

Brexit no doubt played a part also. Due to the uncertainty. The point is his argument doesn't stack up does it. Otherwise the likes of these tax havens wouldn't be anywhere near as attractive or make those countries as much revenue as it does.
Funny how you didn't mention Brexit first time round.

What on earth makes you think the certainty of Brexit is better than the uncertainty?

Her issue is will the party allow her to? In any event they would never allow enough in to match what is needed and if they did they wouldn't come. They have labour shortages everywhere - who is gonna come on a 3 month Visa then get booted out when you can tour the EU at harvest time if you an EU citizen and get longer possibly continuous employment there - they have no way of tackling the issue they have created

Her party will hate it, but one of the biggest drags on the economy is a shortage of labour. The Tories have being quietly liberalising immigration rules and the press has kept equally quiet about it. Although the Home Office is being slow to process applications which hasn’t helped.

Like everything we are are getting increasingly weighed down by red tape and a lack of State capacity to cope with increased admin work, which is undermining the relaxing of rules.

Whether any of this will help in the long run is, I agree, debatable.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mum. My experience has been the opposite though. I know many who have had thorough assessments and been awarded disability benefits

Definitely in the ‘Patel can lump it’ category :)

The points system is a moveable feast and responds to which sector screams loudest for migrant labour. Agriculture, Health, Social Care, IT, Hospitality. All need labour and even when they get here, the HO is taking ages to process applications apparently.
