No, a leader, a potential PM does not make those comments about Sturgeon or Scotland period. There is a line, and if that person cannot judge where that line is then they should be disqualified from running for office.

This isn’t about appealing to a narrow or specific electorate or showing she is a bruiser, you can do that and still know where the line is. That Truss doesn’t means she is unfit.

As for everyone is talking about her policies, well yes, if announcing absolute bollocks and then backtracking 24 hours later is the sort of qualities we want for PM then she is doing really well.

I don’t disagree with you, that type of language is uncalled for, but it doesn’t really matter what you or I think about her conments on Sturgeon - she won’t be disqualified. The reality is she only has to appeal to around 80,000 tory members who will welcome a bruiser who’ll tell sturgeon what’s what however unpalatable that is to the vast majority of voters - at least that’s what her advisors will be telling her. Her first objective will be securing the leadership, for that she needs to convince half the membership+1…next will be to convince the country to vote for her next GE.

She’s not unique. Starmer was exactly the same - told the left of the party what they wanted to hear then promptly forgot it once he’d got the leadership going as far as culling many Corbynists from positions of influence.
