Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

I could not agree more.
Unfortunately we cannot take the best bits from each of them, put them on to a wish list and tell them to implement those policies.
According to quite a few on here the electorate is too thick to even be worthy of a vote.

Yes you can, that’s what going to proportional representation can do, which is what a lot of people advocate on here.

If you’re purely short termist (and have no interest in local politics) then yes. I’d argue if I’d have voted for either then my vote would have been even more wasted as it wouldn’t have been my true voice. If everyone did that, then we turn completely into the US and a two party system.
All politics is short termist.
It’s political suicide to look beyond 5 years, just look at the rows over long term care and pensions
Why would any party introduce policies which are implemented I the following parliament that the opposition may benefit from.

And yet their happiness and quality of life are right at the top. Telling that you defaulted to an economic view of it rather than a societal one though ;)
As long as we strive for equal opportunities and protection of the most vulnerable, I am not jealous of those achieving their dreams and wishes through hard work and ambition

Rather than show bitterness and making it personal, why don’t you give a sensible answer.
If I make you sick why bother answering is it just to get a tick off a fellow crony, does that make you feel better.
Brings nothing to the debate.
Fuck off with your faux whinging. I’ve been talking on this forum all night and you haven’t replied once. Maybe you could start with the bit where I told you I am happy to pay higher taxes to look after those less fortunate? Just after you said that nobody does that.

My Dad always characterised that as why the council will replace lamp posts rather than drains. Your councillor will always prefer to be photographed pointing up at a new lamp post because that can be seen rather than being photographed standing by a manhole cover pointing down where there is nothing to be seen. Hence you will get new lamp posts on a 5 year renewal cycle and still have drains that overflow every time it rains.....

The Scandinavian countries are about 2% of the worlds GDP so hardly a beacon of how the world should operate
The GDP per capita of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland are all ahead of ours, so I suspect they’re doing something right.
