Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

While I totally agree that Truss isn't PM material in a million years, if she gets in I doubt she'll have as much scandal following her around as Johnson did. In fact, I doubt anyone would. It was as much about that than his policies that did for Johnson IMO.

The Tories could've surely done better than have Truss getting through to the final two though. And whatever we might think of Sunak, he definitely comes off as far more competent than Truss.

Sunak is never going to get in , despite being the more competent person , because of R.....M.

I think this is what makes her dangerous.

She's unutterably dull and there won't be much distraction beyond some stupid thing she says.

However, she appears to be an ideologue, or at least someone who does what she's told by ideologues, and may be more competent at forcing through the punishment acts to trash as much as possible, especially if Johnson gets away with rigging the House of Lords.

Can we join a Scotland if it breaks away, redraw the line just south of Manchester, this shit show has shown up just what the Tories think of everyone North of London. If you are middle or working class and even think about voting for these cunts then I’m sorry you deserve to die in a cold house through starvation. Harsh I know but that’s what you are effectively voting for.

I wouldn’t call it harsh wishing death on millions of people. I’d probably call it genocide or something - it’s definitely not normal.

She has shown herself to be nothing more than an ambitious politician - completely devoid of principles. A choice between Starmer and Truss at the next election? What a treat for insomniacs the country over.

Starmer strikes me as being bright enough to tie his own shoelaces, whereas am I'm not that confident in Truss, so it shouldn't even be close.

Truss’s rant on Sturgeon and Scotland was not that of an ambitious politician, rather an unhinged lunatic unfit for the office of PM. There is no comparison with Starmer.

Haha. Least we can laugh about it. Truss seems to want to head further right so unless she does what Starmer did when he pretended to be a leftie to be elected leader then head straight for the centre ground then I don’t see it being close either.

Ambitious politicians want power mate. She is just feeding the rank and file what they (she thinks) want to hear - I’ll fight for the Union, I’ll cut taxes, I’ll reduce costs, I’ll wear me pearls like Maggie, waffle waffle waffle. I don’t disagree she’s unfit for office.

Christ she is cringeworthy. Kier gets a lot of stick but is appealing to me more and more. Professionalism & Integrity are two factors I never thought needed stating in a Prime Minister's requirements but after recent examples they are back on my requirements list.

Well she has proven her non-levelling up credentials by promising to increase public sector workers pay in the South East and leave the rest to hang out to dry and she suggested there should be two internets access to which is determined by the users age. She wants to save people from themselves on one and be allowed freedom of speech on the other...........

No serious politician or leader makes those comments on Scotland.

According to the Mail, she is now walking back her ‘let’s cut the pay of nurses and police north of Watford‘ policy. Oh, and anyone allying themselves to Truss can’t be taken seriously, either. Clearly, they have defective judgement.

Cabinet allies of Truss currently phoning Tory MPs saying the policy is going to be ditched. Fine. But why not just say it publicly.’@MoS
