Who was your favourite comic character ?

As a kid, the first comic I bought regularly was "Krazy" which featured a character called Cheeky.

Krazy then merged with Whizzer And Chips and I religiously bought this with my pocket money along with Roy Of The Rovers.

Can't really remember specific characters but loved these comics

As I got older, used to buy Viz a lot and Roger Mellie, The Thieving Gypsy Bastards along with a few others used to make me laugh.

Not bought Viz for years until a few months ago bought a copy, spur of the moment while I was waiting in a queue in the supermarket.

Anyway, there was a character called "Lidl Richard" and the story is of Richard who buys all sorts of useless shite from the middle aisle of Lidl's - for those of us who have been in Lidl/Aldi, we all know how random some of the stuff is in those middle aisles!!!

Not certain if Lidl Richard is a regular character in Viz, but honest to God, I was crying with laughter!!!

Too young for Rover or whichever comic had the Tough of the Track in it, but my late uncle was a fan, he had the annuals. Alf Tupper was one of the characters I remember, along with Chell Puddock the blacksmith, Figaro the bandit and the midget pirate captain with the useless crew.

ETA: Viz is hilarious. I especially love the tips section and the fake ads. I vaguely recall seeing a Billy the Fish cartoon on telly when I was little.

As mentioned, Asterix - a classic writing and drawing, and an incredible English translation by a couple of people IIRC.

And because we went to France a lot as a kid, I also enjoyed the stories of Lucky Luke (cowboy), and Gaston Lagaffe (a lazy laid back inventor dude who worked for a print company).

On the home front, I enjoyed a lot of Battle Picture Weekly:
Charley's war - being the standout - illustration, story writing, historical detail
Johnny Red & The Bootneck boy - both of which remind me currently of Mariopol situation.
Darkie's mob - a very different story from WWII in Burma.
Can't remember the name , but something like The Fall Guy - about a german paratrooper - different and good.
Major Eazy - escapism
The Rat pack - escapism
I'm sure there were others, but they escape might accumulating years!
The Rat Pack was one of my favourites along with these lads….

Something about that Nemesis fucker reminds me of Klopp :)

My parents bought the Sunday Express in the 70's and it was in there. Lynne was ways flashing a bit of boob... no nipples of course but enough flesh to get a teenager such as me excited when pretending to be reading the football results

Edit.... a little Google search reveals my recollection of no nipples was.incorrect!

Is that when you started being such a wanker ?

Thought it was cow pie. The crust had horns sticking out of the top, iirc.
It's a Lancashire delicacy is cow heel pie. Despite its name, it’s really a meat pie, that just happens to use the heel aka “fetlock” to thicken it producing a lush rich lip-sticking gravy.

I had cow heel stew many times as a lad. My dad did his National Service in the Catering Corps, and taught my mum how to cook!
