Who would you like to see write a book on their time at City?

I would like something from the fans point of view who have had their ears to the ground for the past 50 odd years, who have had involvement in a certain capacity, like alan galley or Dave Wallace these guys have been their through thick and thin, bet they have some great stories they have hidden away

i would like to see a book from Stan Horne, the first black player to play for City,a regular in the 1966-67 season, and who played his part, however small, in the title win the following season.
Very little is said about Horne , and i have seen team pics from the 1965-68 era without him on,altho admittingly, most pics are from 1967 onwards, and maybe, due to his limited involvement in the title year he couldn,t have been expected to be included.
maybe..
An account of his struggle to break into the first team, how he felt about being a regular in the old first division,on the back of the countrys world cup win, and his thoughts on the title winning season, from his role as a squad player..he must have first hand knowledge of the rapid rise in team spirit and quality, under Mercer and Allison..and when we sing "we went to Rotherham(and won!!)"
we should remember,Stan Horne was playing, seeing Bell score,to ensure," we were back into division one"
Less than 12k were there that night,Stan was one of them.

When I saw the title of the thread, Bernard was the one that came to mind immediately - as long as he gave an honest and unexpurgated account. Don't see it, regrettably, but he's the guy who really knows where the bodies are buried.

Francis Lee has been promising for a few years to produce a book, in particular lifting the lid on his time as chairman. That would be fascinating if it were done right, though my fear is that he'd get some retired journo mate to do it and wouldn't realise the full potential.

A couple of people have mentioned "where the bodies are buried". Could you explain what this means? I followed City from 89 when I was 7 but obviously I was too young to understand the stuff going on behind the scenes then.

Funny you should say that. I believe Dave Wallace has written one which I think he's hoping to publish. I'm hoping to have an early look at it.

I've just read Don Price's book (he's cyberblue on here) and that's a cracking read. As P&W branch founder and chairman he's certainly got a tale to tell but Dave was on the board when Franny was chairman and has done KOTK for over 20 years.

It refers to alleged financial impropriety. Understating attendances with the corresponding gate money presumably going into someone's pocket, companies associated with people in office at the club signing contracts to work with the club at high rates, bungs on transfers - that type of thing. All very common in football generally at the time and all presumed to have been going on at City.
