whoever scouted Boateng

true about his marking on sunday, but he did get a few things right on the night as well. the reaction to his performance is miles OTT.

as for the passing, he loses it carelessly at times, but you have to accept that he is showing some ambition. he will look to make big passes most of the time. it's in stark contrast to Micah, who to my eyes appears (at times) almost afraid to contribute in attack.

i've chosen two recent games that we won to illustrate the point.

richards vs villa

boateng vs newcastle.

unlike any other fullbacks we've had in recent times, boateng and kolarov both manage to play crosses into the box time after time, match after match. kolarov in particular has delivered some great low passes. boateng is struggling for accuracy, but he gets my vote for at least getting there and looking to create.

what site's that from chick?

Watch his distribution. He gives the ball away every time he has it.

...apart from when he laid it on a plate for johnno to slide in

If his distribution is poor, it's probably largely down to (shock horror) him being new to England and adapting to the pace of the game.

Thats ok Chick but the Newcastle match was away. When you compare Boateng at home against Blackpool and Richards at home to Villa, it becomes clearer that Boateng is passing more and getting forward more.
