Why Arteta but not Vieira?

Not a chance.

A brilliant player but he lacks the ability and the charisma to be a top manager - as he proved when in charge of our EDS.
It's so hard for anyone going into football management, I'm sure even VK will find it tough. Look at how Solskjaer see-sawed at United. One week he was the Messiah, who couldn't put a foot wrong, next week he didn't seem to have a clue.

I found it strange that so many people thought Viera was going to be our home grown replacement to Pep, because he was a world class player and that is our vision. The same with Arteta, there's no guarantee he's going to be any more successful. He seems to have more intelligence but there are so many qualities required to make a successful manager and it's so difficult getting managerial experience. Football clubs at the top levels can't afford to have periods of failure.

The old adage ..... players don't always make good managers
