Why can't yanks use a knife and fork?

Whenever I see one of our ex colonists using a knife and fork, it's just pathetic, were they never taught how to hold a knife and fork. Most do not even know which goes in the correct hand?

Wrong hands and they put down the knife when using the fork,looks cack handed

Perhaps it should have been worded as using cutlery the same way as Europeans and most other civilized nations.
It makes me laugh at formal meals when everybody is careful about the correct cutlery to use and the correct order.
No problem for Hank the Yank just grabs the biggest fork and away he goes.
He makes a right mess on the soup course though.
