Leave all there transfer business until the last day?
Just seen sky sports news,it's not long after 9 and it's fuckin mental already.
Stoke look like they could sign up to four players today, but they are all players who have been available all summer .
For me the window should close the day before the season starts and everybody knows where there up to.

For me the transfer window shouldnt shut at all until the last month or so of the season like the old days.

It doost half make FM shit to play.

But you are right under the current rules it seems a bit of last day madness infects a lot of managers.

Expect Harry to be twitching away all day long.

"Triffic"

Brinksmanship, clubs will only release players they are happy to leave and so the buying clubs leave it untill the last minute to negotiate the best possible price.
No one is going to pay us very much now for Ned Bellers SWP Bridge etc.

They rarely leave their transfer business until the last day, despite the ostensible evidence in the news. Transfers are laborious and meticulous. They involve alot of legal implications, money, squad implications and marketing boost. If transfers are structured in the media this way, it's always going to improve marketability. However, it's true that the situation is resolved by those who matter most long before we here about it.

Aside from the reasons mentioned by zanga (that a lot has gone on behind the scenes), it's also like a big game of cards, you don't want everyone to see your hand before you're ready to play. Why advertise that you are making offers when someone can then nip in with a better offer?

I would have thought wages played the biggest part in this. Why get Bellamy in June when City can pay his wages for another three months.

Its only at the end of the window that clubs get realistic about the real value of a player. For example it makes sense for the club to try to get the best deal possible for Bellamy & co, some club might want them enough to pay a decent price. But when it comes to today the club has to decide whether its prepared to give them full paid leave until January. It focuses the mind.

On the other hand, clubs know that if they hold a player until the end of the window they might find that 2 or 3 clubs suddenly become interested in that player and bid up the price.
