Why does Stuart Pearce hate City so much?

Aways were much more fun especially in those days. At the end of that season there was a bit of optimism after keegan had faded away so badly. The end of that season the games always seemed to be on a sunny day and I was young and everything seemed good.

Pearce actually did ok for us for a while and it carried on to the 2005/06 season where we started well and had some decent results.
A couple of little cup runs as well that ended in quarter final defeats but it wasn’t all bad. I think the majority of his signings didn’t work out and he spunked relatively big money of samaras and it didn’t work out.

When I was at Gillingham after euro 96 they played forest in a pre season and he was friendly with the staff/players etc and came across as a decent person.

No idea if he hates city or not. Maybe he’s just indifferent towards us and isn’t a fan boy like Neville or carragher. I don’t think he goes out of his way to slag us off and as a caveat I don’t see him being an over the top cheerleader for forest.

I think he just saw football as a job and did it pretty well most of the time.

I just think as an original London punk,, who supported Chelsea ,and who never really wanted to move north as a player ( turned hull city down whilst still a semi pro at Weadlstone) he had no reason to fall in love with City...at least he wasn't false ,and pretended we were close to his s heart,I don't mind that.its real.

When talking of Pearce ,who was a legend in Nottingham but not popular in Manchester ...I always think of David Platt,who was hated in Nottingham but of course helped Mancini s City win the league in 2012...

But I remember Platt, before he got the job at City ,on sky sports as a pundit for City live matches,clearly hating us after the takeover,a surly jealous utd fan ......as you say,these players were just ' professional ' and did a job wherever they were asked to.

Last time I saw Pearce was in the changing rooms at Nottingham Tennis Centre! I'd just arrived for a match and he'd just finished some promotional gig for local sports ....I let on I was a Blue but he clearly wasn't impressed ,lol,although polite with it.

He really can’t hide his disillusionment re his sacking. I genuinely think he thought it was unjust!! That season was a nightmare - IIRC was it 10 goals all season?
If he was any good as a pundit ( he certainly wasn’t as a manager) he would try to be objective. His comments are ridiculous - and his suggestion that Foden should have been withdrawn after 25 minutes was embarrassing to read. Surely whoever is in charge of using him as a commentator should seriously be considering releasing him.

Think he has been sacked from every job he has had , most boring pundit in the game.

A Company i used to world for had a box at Wembley (they were Chelsea Fans) . They invited me and said I could bring a couple of friends for the Watford Final. Pearce was one of the ex players doing the rounds. When he came into our box and one of the lads said we have three City Fans here, he didn't want to know us and said he cheering for Watford. I declined to have my photo taken with him.

It was a touch more than that though wasn't it. We had a year of him playing, he was loved and had a great connection with the fans. He then became a coach at our club. Following this he became manager. I don't demand he loves us, but from a fans perspective treat us the same way he was treated whilst with us. Cannot understand what gripes he can have with City, can't be his sacking because that was quite comfortably the worst City team I watched regularly (born in the late 80s)

Well I can’t dispute what you put and the disappointment when he missed ‘ that’ penalty, but what went on behind closed doors we cannot know. I don’t get bothered about ex players being that way whether it’s because of some internal dispute, just being loyal to another club or because they’re simply pissed they didn’t get the chance to be this Manchester City. He’s certainly not the only one.

Well said. I think some City fans are being a bit precious here. On the clip on Talksport he actually spoke well of us when it was his turn - he just looked vacent when waiting for his turn. He got dogs abuse from City fans when he was manager - not surprisingly considering how shit he was - so he's hardly going to be a City fanboy is he? I think some need to get real and calm down a bit. It's like expecting Dickov to be a massive Leicester fan and jump up and down every time they win. Not going to happen. It's just a job to them.
