I can't say as I don't go to away games, but from what I have been reading on... sometimes our fans are even fighting/argueing among each other.

This kind of comment always amuses me ive been going away for nearly 40 years and its always happened just some seasons are worse than others.

Re: Why is our away Support "Shite" ?

I go to a handful of away games per season and have noticed a difference in the past year or so. An away day can be a great day out, having a beer and a good sing-song throughout the game. There's still plenty of that, but something's different. Its great being part of a 'blue army' on their travels, but I can do without the morons singing Munich songs, using washbasins in the loos as urinals, spending the entire game staring at the home support and 'offering out' someone who's fifty yards away and behind a fence. They pay their money so I guess in many respects can do what they like, but that's not for me. Maybe its always been like this and I just notice it more now, but we don't seem as vocal as we used to be.

Our away support is no worse than most other teams. I think when we were shit we just went to have a good time and a win was a bonus, now the expectations have increased and if we don't finish fourth the sky will fall in. We as fans are expecting more from the team.
I haven't been to as many away games as I would have liked this season due to lack of funds. I know plenty of other people in the same boat and this has had an impact on some attendances. Sunderland away for example was not one that I was willing to fork out cash for when there are bigger(better) games coming up. It's alright saying it was only £27 a ticket but as you all know going away you need a lot more than that to get there and have a few beers etc.

agree

I wouldnt take much notice of what you read on here, I go to most away games and 95% of the rubbish written after every away game is just people being drama queens. The atmosphere hasnt been great which is true, but I have often read about the 'disgraceful' behavior of some of our fans on here after a match and am actually shocked they were at the same game.

The atmosphere in the pubs and in the concourse is always good, its just when you get to the seats there seems to be too many who aren't interested in singing (which is completely their choice). You get the odd game like Blackburn and Scunthorpe when everyone seems up for a good day out, but they are becoming rarer. The profile of the average fan has changed, there are a lot less lads and more women and middle aged blokes.

i can vouch for this,a scrap nearly started between 2 old lads at the pompey (home match).pathetic both grown men nearly killing eachother over whether petrov was better than bellamy!!

What has happened is people who used to travel as youngsters and have a good sing song have now grown up and feel less likely to jump up and down for 90 mins (I include myself in this). The problem is that many youngsters have been priced out of the game these days. Also before a game everybody is all together, once in the ground when they find their seats they are all split up.

From a period of five to ten years ago we used to sell out everywhere we went, the atmosphere was great and I used to revel in the fact that we had a good natured, boisterous away support as good, if not better, than any other in the country.

Over recent years, our away support has declined to a point that it rarely sells out away days, the banter and camoradorie has gone and the people seem to have changed. The banter is no longer friendly and there is a nasty feel to it all. Some of the cretins that follow us on the road are nothing more than sub-humans.

Recently, money has prevented me from travelling to most away games but I don't miss them like I thought I would. This is not simply due to the fact that, by and large, we have been crap away from home over the last three years, it's because of the degeneration in the calibre of away supporter following us.

You sure about that? Id say almost all our away games this season have sold out.

im lucky ive been able to go to every game this season, but a couple of suggestions on why our away following is down , out of 21 away games this season only 7 have been on saturday (the day of choice for most fans ), this sundays match at Fulham is gonna cost me getting on for £200 - i do know if/when we get into europe next season im not gonna be able to go to every away game , i'll have to save my money and brownie points for the foreign trips . You would think that the worlds richest club could do something to help their fans out - surely its better to play with the backing of a full away end

We can't blame success because we haven't actually had any. We can't blame corperate because we can't sellout, and we can't blame the Rags, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool. How about we just blame ourselves for once. Football is changing and we need to adapt to this change.

How can you comment on something when you hardly ever go to away games ??
Sorry pal, but your post is crap.

This season I've been to the away games at blackburn, bolton, stoke (cup) and I'll be going on sunday. To be honest if an away match is on the telly I dont usually go. I'd probably go if it was with a group but mostly I'm on my own and the travelling's a pain (especially driving home after a defeat).

Usually find the atmosphere is good but there are a few too many idiots. The sight of City fans shoving kids out of the way to have a fight at Bolton was probably the worst I've seen.

And I always find that the "Munich" songs just kill the atmosphere. There are enough of us that just will not sing these songs that whenever they are sung the atmosphere dips.

Acording to the doom & Gloom Merchants are Away Suport has gone down the Pan .It cant be that bad as we sell out for most away games & Burnley & Arsenal are already sold Out

It's not about numbers, we could take 15,000 of the same sort of people and we'd still be shit! It's about NOISE! I get to around 8-10 away games a season and i really do try to be an extremely vocal fan but 95% of the time songs die on their arse cos no fucker can be arsed singing! and it's not about the team and how they're playing, cos im more up for singing when we're shit and getting beat than i am when we're winning (id rather be watching the team when they're playing well than singing and missing it all through fuckin about with me mates)! so this "the team dont give us anything to sing about away from home" doesnt wash with me - the fact is there are too many boring bastards following City!

I'll think you'll find they're Sunni rather than Shi'ite... Shi'ite's are the minority in the UAE ;)
